Prime Architects and its consultants are providing design services for the Three Rivers Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) and a Satellite Camp (SCP).
There are two 450KW Marathon/Detroit generators, 1990 model 573RSL2056AP450W, that provides part-load emergency power to the FCI and SCP. The generators are located inside the Central Utility Plant (CUP), located outside the secure confines at the Federal Prison Camp. Outside adjacent to the powerhouse building are two above ground 10000 gallon diesel day tanks. According to an electrical assessment coordinated by Prime, the overall facility rating of the electrical infrastructure is Poor.
To address all concerns from the electrical assessment, Prime Architects proposed to replace backup generators that are sufficient to power the entire facility, adjust and replace breakers, reroute duct work, sprinkler piping, and water piping in the areas that are located above the main switch gear, and to replace the transfer switch and remove the temporary generator. New B loop wiring was installed, all leaking transformers and missing breaker coves were replaced. Prime Architects replaced all kitchen panels at the FCI and Camp with proper enclosures as identified in the reference electrical assessment. All repairs and equipment replacement shall be consistent with BOP technical design guidelines and would prevent inmate sabotage and control.
