Overview

Prime Architects designed the replacement of interior finishes throughout Building 75, a 15,565 SF unit at the Dallas VAMC. The work covers classrooms, restrooms, corridors, offices, support spaces, reception areas and a fitness center. The building remains an active federal facility during the work.

Technical Scope

  • Architecture/Interiors: New finishes on all surfaces. Reconfigured furniture layouts. New flooring and layout for the fitness center. Moveable partition walls for flexible room use.
  • Electrical: New lighting and audio-visual systems, including motorized projector screens.
  • Mechanical / Plumbing / Electrical: Associated MEP work throughout the unit.
  • Hazardous Materials: Review of the local asbestos survey to identify remediation areas.
  • Physical Security: In-house evaluation against the VA Physical Security Design Manual. Documented assessments to support waivers where needed.
  • Assessment/Pre-design: Site survey of existing conditions to support demolition recommendations per VA guidelines. Staff interviews and field investigations.
  • Cost estimating: Estimates at each design milestone, accounting for regional bidding conditions and escalation.
