Emergency Department Decontamination Rooms and Switch Rooms

The existing Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, was in need of renovating four decontamination rooms and converting two into exam rooms. The project involved the renovation of building #171 found on the Dallas Main Campus.

A/E oversaw the design and coordination of various project phases, including conducting a comprehensive study of local asbestos surveys to pinpoint areas requiting remediation. Additionally, A/E conducted frequent site visits throughout the project’s duration to ensure adherence to design specifications and address any emerging need or challenges effectively.

Construction consists of but is not limited to the following: necessary demolition and removal; new and reconfigured elements; mechanical, plumbing, lighting, and electrical systems as needed; new interior finishes to ceilings, walls, and flooring; renovation of 26 sliding electrical exam doors and framing; removing door frame; and the installation of new rollers. Construction may also include the abatement of any asbestos and identified on the provided drawings. The construction of this project will take place in a very busy, occupied building and is to be completed to allow medical care functions to be maintained uninterrupted throughout construction and coordination with VA COR and Stakeholders.
