Architectural and Engineering design services for 5 new air handling units (AHUs) and AHU tower to house units at the Medical Center. Building 1 is of early Spanish architecture and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, therefore the construction shall conform to that style of architecture.
The design and size of the five AHUs and associated infrastructure to serve building includes but not limited to; new duct work, piping, insulation, controls, variable air volume boxes, coil units, and exhaust sys-tems. AHUs shall be able to heat, cool, and humidify in accordance to VA standards. Performed heating and cooling load calculations for all five floors of Building 1 to determine correct size AHU size to match summer design for local area climate.
The building will remain in operation throughout duration of the project. A/E must coordinate with subcontractors to minimize the effect construction has on patients and visitors.
A/E will study local asbestos survey to identify areas of remediation. The A/E will be responsible for all specifications and cost estimations associated with the study. As part of initial design development, A/E shall review proposed site and evaluate feasibility constructability as well as suggest potential alternatives.
