Prime Architects Secures Federal Contract to Modernize Fire Detection Systems at Federal Correctional Complex in Beaumont, Texas

Prime Architects is proud to announce its latest federal contract award from the Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP) to lead the design and engineering of a comprehensive fire detection system replacement at the Federal Correctional Complex (FCC) in Beaumont, Texas. This project will replace the outdated fire alarm system with a state-of-the-art Edwards EST-4 system, which will enhance safety and compliance across all facilities at the complex. The EST-4 system offers faster detection, improved reliability, and centralized monitoring, significantly enhancing emergency response capabilities.

FCC Beaumont is located 85 miles east of Houston and 280 miles west of New Orleans. FCC Beaumont is an integral part of the Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP) system of classified penal and correctional institutions. The complex consists of a Minimum-Security Camp, a Low Security Institution, a Medium Security Institution, a High Security Institution (USP), and an Administrative Services Operation (CAB) which provides various services to support the Complex. The CAB was constructed and activated in 1996.

The scope of work includes:

  • Removal of the existing EST-3 systems and installation of the advanced EST-4 platform
  • Integration of new fire alarm panels, annunciator panels, horn/strobe combos, smoke and heat detectors, carbon monoxide detection, and a UL-listed graphical monitoring system
  • This project underscores Prime Architects’ expertise in federal infrastructure and life-safety systems, and its ongoing commitment to excellence in public sector design. Prime Architects has extensive past performance with the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Oklahoma and Texas.
