The Yale Theater opened in 1918 and it was a tremendous, central asset of Capitol Hill in OKC from 1918 to the late 1960’s. As our urban cores deteriorated in the 1970’s, the Yale also ceased sowing quality movies and ultimately closed in the 1980’s.
More recently, Mason Realty Investors purchased the Yale in December 2016 and it is currently part of a $2M contest led by the National Trust for Historic Preservation to renovate 25 historic buildings in the United States. This prize money will help us finalize and enhance our current $800k effort to restore the Yale to its original grander and important part of our community – including restoring the facade, sign, lobby, foyer, and auditorium.
So, we need your help! Please sign up and vote daily, 5 times for your favorite project (hope it’s the Yale!) until October 31.
The final winners are determined by the number of votes submitted online.
