Prime Architects is proud to announce the comprehensive upgrade of security systems at the George H. O’Brien VA Medical Center in Big Spring, TX. This project focuses on enhancing three critical security components: the Security Surveillance Television System (SSTV), the Electronic Physical Access Control System (PACS), and the Intrusion Detection System (IDS). These upgrades are designed to significantly improve the safety and security of the medical center, ensuring a secure environment for both patients and staff.

A key feature of this project is the implementation of a Physical Security Information Management System (PSIM). This system will integrate the upgraded security components with the existing critical utility and fire alarm systems, providing a cohesive and efficient security management solution. The PSIM will enable real-time monitoring and response, enhancing the overall security infrastructure of the medical center.

Additionally, the project includes the installation of a ring topology fiber distribution network. This network will connect Buildings 3 and 4 with Building 1, allowing for future expansion to other buildings on the campus. This infrastructure upgrade ensures that the medical center is well-prepared for any future security enhancements and technological advancements.

The existing police operations area will also undergo significant renovations. This includes the creation of a new Security Control Center (SCC) and a Security Equipment Room (SER). The SCC will serve as the central hub for all security operations, while the SER will house all necessary electrical equipment. Detailed layouts of the electrical equipment and their load requirements will be provided to ensure optimal functionality and efficiency.
