In 2017, the historic Yale Theater in Oklahoma City went through significant exterior modifications to complement its concurrent interior renovation. The exterior renovation aimed to restore and enhance the building’s historic charm while incorporating modern elements. This blend of old and new ensures the theater remains a vibrant part of the community while honoring its past.
The scope of work for the exterior modifications included several key features designed to enhance the building’s aesthetic appeal and functionality. Mint green Vitrolite facing was used on the ticket window and as a tile base on the façade. The exterior sign for the theater was restored by repainting the backlit metal marquee and the red metal letters. Decorative movie poster style display cases were added to the façade and historic photos were used inside the cases. These updates were carefully planned to reflect the theater’s historical significance while providing a fresh, modern look.
