Building and HVAC Upgrades for Veterans Affairs Healthcare System of the Ozarks

The VA Health Care System of the Ozarks in Fayetteville, AR, stands as a comprehensive medical campus dedicated to serving veterans in the region. Prime Architects completed the Veteran’s Affairs building upgrades by providing architectural and engineering services for the 17,000 sq. ft. facility. This renovation project included significant upgrades to the HVAC system, the design and installation of a new sprinkler system, and the restoration of floors and finishes in the historic auditorium located at the facility.

To begin with, the Prime Team upgraded the HVAC system throughout the building. Nonetheless, this involved replacing units ranging from 3 to 55 tons. Transitioning from outdated systems, all steam radiators were replaced with new centralized heating and cooling systems. Additionally, the new air-cooled chiller will be relocated from its current position at the facility. Thus, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency. As part of the renovation, asbestos was abated on all steam pipe risers, and plumbing replacements were carried out. Accordingly, this addresses all floor leaks, enhancing the safety and functionality of the building.

Moving on to the auditorium renovation, the project included the restoration of the floors and woodwork finishes to preserve the building’s historic character. Prime Architects assessed and repaired wood structure deficiencies, ensuring the auditorium retained its original charm while meeting modern standards. This careful attention to detail highlights the commitment to maintaining the historical integrity of the facility.

Moreover, the renovation project aimed to create a more comfortable and efficient environment for both staff and veterans. By upgrading the HVAC system, the facility now benefits from improved air quality and temperature control, contributing to a better overall experience for everyone who visits or works there. The new sprinkler system enhances safety, providing peace of mind in case of emergencies.

In conclusion, the building upgrades for the Veteran’s Affairs medical facility, exemplifies a successful blend of preserving historical elements while incorporating modern upgrades. Prime Architects’ dedication to this project ensures that the facility continues to serve veterans with the highest standards of care and comfort. This comprehensive renovation not only enhances the building’s functionality but also honors its historical significance, making it a valuable asset to the community.
