The VA Health Care System of the Ozarks in Fayetteville, AR, is a comprehensive medical campus dedicated to serving veterans in the region. Prime Architects was hired to provide architectural and engineering services for the renovation of the 17,000 sq. ft. facility. The renovation included upgrades to the HVAC system, the design and installation of a new sprinkler system, and the restoration of floors and finishes to the historic auditorium located at the facility.
HVAC upgrades throughout the building replaced units ranging from 3-55 tons. All steam radiators were replaced with new centralized heating and cooling systems. The new air-cooled chiller will be relocated from the current location at the facility. Asbestos was abated on all steam pipe risers and plumbing replacement will address all floor leaks.
The auditorium renovation included restoration of the floors and woodwork finishes to preserve the building’s historic character. Wood structure deficiencies were also assessed and repaired.
